life

yesterday's CEP we talked a lot about abortion and life. well most of the current situation is that the mother has the 'right' to decide the child's fate, which is very sad.. how do we know what could have been? man likes to think that they know everything when actually they don't act on what they already know. they should know that the 'best laid plans' don't usually work, and how do they know whether a child will be a burden (or for whatever reason that they decided to abort the child) for them in the future? once a woman gets pregnant, and the child is formed in the womb, the child is an individual already.
but because of potential sickness or deformity in the child, the parents sometimes decide to take away the baby's life, maybe because they find the child a burden to their ambitions or plans.

well God is the one who gives life to all and really it should be Him who decides. if He decides to give a child even as a result of rape (or any other form of unwanted pregnancy, it also reminds us that we can't just have the pleasure of sex and not want to bear the responsibility of having a child) or in potential danger to the mother's life, it is His will and He will take care of the child eventually.

when Rachel died while giving birth to Benjamin, she named him son of my sorrow, but Jacob named him Benjamin, which means son of my right hand. this just goes to show that Jacob realises that although Benjamin being born meant that Rachel his beloved wife had to die, the potential of a new life in Benjamin was far greater than the sorrow of losing his wife.

just like how God also sent His Son the Lord Jesus to die for our sins.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

you see, when all of us were born into this world we were born with severe spiritual deformities, in fact we were dead in our sins, yet God not only allowed us to be born but also the Lord Jesus died so that we may have eternal life - just like how plants reproduce.
God doesn't just cast us away just because we have deformities! Christ died that we may live again.

the same goes for euthanasia, even when we may fall into physical sickness and suffering, God doesn't give up on us. and so man should not give up on themselves.
if such a great God who loves us despite our disabilities, deformities and diseases, how can we give up?
come to Jesus today!
