received news this morning that brother Jack Fish's very young granddaughter Courtney Davis, has just been put in the high risk cancer category (after initial stages of chemotherapy, the cancer tumor in the brain has grown instead of becoming smaller), now the cancer is harder to treat and chances of survival is less. even if she survives, the side effects of chemotherapy are quite bad also (some kidney and heart damage...)
so I thought if Courtney dies, why did God want her to come into this world?
and if she lives on but with all the side effects for the rest of her life...
what is the purpose of all this?
God wants us to trust in Him.
God can say in a word and the cancer will dissappear, but if that were so, people will just call on God when they need Him.
It also reminds us of sin and a fallen creation.
This also tells us of the future day of restoration.
So even if she dies eventually, the process of trusting God in times of difficulties is a witness to the world that God is real, it also helps those of us who are healthy to treasure life.
and if she lives on with many problems it is also a testimony of God's grace that she can have life in the first place, that she recovered from cancer and still can continue to live.
God is the reason of our existence.
And remember that in any case, things could have been worse (Courtney may not have lived at all) and its only God's grace which does not allow us to be tested above that we are able.
May He be glorified.
