Rise to the challenge and Look to the sky

i'm back from dvbs. sorry, no time to blog the last 3 days.
nice theme song called Little by little.
had 4 p5 ppl in my group. great, easier to handle and more time to know them. (supposed to have 8 but the other 4 didn't come) Jonathan Chua was my assistant leader.
Benny and Nixon were visitors, Rebecca and Rachel from cc/ss
guys and girls divide (just happened to be like that)
hope that they are truly saved in the Lord Jesus.
the theme was "Champions for God" and the talks were on Rahab, Gideon and Nehemiah. Champions trust God, Champions have faith and Champions have hope.

reflections/lessons learnt:
a) all 3 people remembered something:
Rahab remembered the opening of the Red Sea 40 years ago and also the crossing of the Jordan river and the slaying of the giant kings Sihon and Og, so she trusted in the God of Israel and hid the Israelite spies from the king's army.

Gideon remembered all the miracles and also the deliverance of Israel from Egypt when Israel was only a weak nation, and Gideon had faith in God and attacked the 100,000 Midianites with only 300 men, so the LORD used him to defeat the Midianites.

Nehemiah remembered the idolataries and iniquities of the people Israel and also that God had promised to forgive them if they repented and kept His commandments again. and so Nehemiah hoped in God. God protected them from their enemies and helped them rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days.

want to be a Champion for God? Remember who God is. simply Greater than anything you can think of, but first we must believe Him and obey Him.

b) God builds and destroys
In Jericho, the city walls needed to be destroyed for the Israelites to attack them. the walls were thick and there was a double layer but God destroyed it just by asking the Israelites to shout on the 7th day.

In Jerusalem, the city walls had to be built so that the Israelites could be protected from the enemies. there was all kind of opposition, insults, internal struggles, false accusation of rebellion, discouragement, fear of attack... but God built the wall in 52 days.

truly if God is for us, who can be against us? Who?
