There was once a peasant farmer who was offered a proposal by a rich landowner. The landowner was getting old and had no more use for the land he had but didn't want to give it free to anybody. So the proposal was that the farmer would be given any amount of land that he could run over from sunrise to sunset in a particular day. As long as he ran over it, the land was his. Obviously the more he could run, the more land he could get. And being a farmer he wanted a lot of land to plant his crops and earn money.
So the farmer readily agreed and started to run from sunrise till sunset the next day. He ran in a orderly fashion in order to keep track of the land he had ran over and also set markers along the way. Other than one stop at noon to drink water and eat some bread, he didn't rest and kept on running till sunset. And at the end, he had covered a vast amount of land which the rich landowner was going to give him according to their agreement.
However, while he was approaching the landowner who was waiting for him, the farmer suddenly collapsed and died from the exhaustion of running for a whole day. He was then buried in a plot of land that was six feet by two feet.
So in the end, all the land he needed was that little while the vast amount of land he had gotten by his hard work went to waste.
Well, back to reality. How much land/riches/money do you need when you die? In Singapore, the dead are cremated and the space that you need is hardly 1 foot by 1 foot.
Think about it then, how much land did the Lord Jesus need? He had no land. He had nothing but neither did He need it.
Because He was laid in a borrowed tomb for 3 days and on the third day He arose.
And finally He ascended into heaven.
Do you have any heavenly riches?
If you have trusted God for our eternal life and destiny, certainly we can trust God for the temporal things of this world.
2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal.
