1 Kings 19: 11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

Speaking volumes again is the Word of God. Many people think of God as being mighty in works. And that is true but God also prefers to speak softly to His people. In the passage above God was not found in the rock shattering wind, the earthquake or the fire but He was found in the gentle whisper which Elijah heard. Similarly God must be found usually while we are alone and in the quiet.
And that is also what God delights in, especially in the Lord Jesus Himself.
Isaiah 42:1 Behold My Servant, whom I uphold; Mine Elect, in whom My Soul delighteth; I have put My Spirit upon Him: He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall He not break, and the smoking flax shall He not quench: He shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till He have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for His law.
God is not a show off. And He also delights in those who work silently instead of impressive showmanship. God exercises lovingkindness, judgment and righteousness in the earth.
Enjoy quiet times with God. There is no such thing as boredom!
