A different Christmas

Last year I spent Christmas in Nepal. Arrived on 18 Dec Sun.
Then the next 5 days was spent providing medical/dental treatment to the people there.
Overall it was very tiring and just like working 9-5 for the 5 days but it was all done for the Lord Jesus. Gospel messages were preached to the people while they were waiting.

As the medicine was given out, there was just this thought. Really all that we were doing was so little compared to the salvation found in Jesus Christ. The medicine and help given was no guarantee of cure. People can just fall sick again and there are sicknesses like cancer which is so difficult to treat. Only the Lord Jesus can offer the permanent solution to the problems caused by sin and death.

Being in Nepal, one of the things to be done was to climb up some mountains. Certainly it was difficult and at times dangerous, especially when I was so tired, but when you get to the top and see the surroundings, its definitely worth the climb. And so it’s the same in life, many things are hard to do and there are problems and tests but after these ‘mountains’ are overcome you’ll find that its worth it.

Zechariah 4: 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

With God the great mountain shall become a plain. Do we trust God?

Then again, there’s one ‘mountain’ we could never overcome and that’s Calvary. But Christ has done it and all those who believe in Him will have the victory in Him.

To be continued…
