Passion Week Reflection 1 - the Servant Whom the LORD delights in

Isaiah 42
 Behold MY Servant, whom I uphold,
    MY Chosen, in whom MY Soul delights;
I have put MY Spirit upon Him;
    He will bring forth justice to the nations.
2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,
    or make it heard in the street;
3 a bruised reed He will not break,
    and a faintly burning wick He will not quench;
    He will faithfully bring forth justice.
4 He will not grow faint or be discouraged
    till He has established justice in the earth;
    and the coastlands wait for His law.

God tells us that His Chosen and Beloved Servant has

1 mission - to bring and establish justice to the earth

1 attitude - He is faithful to His mission

3 things which He does not do
a) He will not sound off His achievements
He does not attract attention away from the LORD, He is loyal to His Master and gives HIM due honor and respect

b) He will not break or quench or destroy those who are weak and wounded
Justice is fair and not only the strong will benefit, there is no unfair treatment
c) He will not be disheartened or fall back or be weakened if and when there is opposition, problems and challenges; He is dedicated and committed to His mission until the job is done and justice is established. He is convinced of the rightness of the cause and perseveres till there is justice to all.

From the nations to the coastlands, all will have justice because of the faithfulness of the Servant.

To establish justice meant dying on the cross and paying for the sins of the world and the Servant of God - Christ Jesus did that, even if it meant being forsaken by His Father and His Lord.

The wrong and the sin was ours
But the penalty and the punishment was His
Justice was fulfilled and the law upheld

Faithful to the end
Good and kind to all
All glory to His Lord
Hallelujah what a Servant!
