course He isn't safe

Lessons from David Macleod on Revelation 4-5

This is taken from CS Lewis’s book the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe where a child asks Mr and Mrs Beaver about Aslan the Lion.

“Is he – quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion.”

“That you will dearie, and no mistake.” said Mrs Beaver.

“If there’s anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they’re either braver than most or just plain silly.”

“Then he isn’t safe?” said Lucy.

“Safe?” said Mr Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the king, I tell you.”

1st night

1) Worship is not something to be learnt in heaven, but now on earth
2) Heaven is not boring

3) All creation is for His glory, not just men

4) God is on the throne despite all the evil and sin we see

5) The LORD is One

2nd night

1) Rebuke to Christians who are contented with this earth

2) The centrality of Jesus Christ in Revelation, should he not be central in everything else?

3) Worthiness of the Lamb to open the scroll shows that He is the meaning of history and life

4) Jesus portrayed as the slain Lamb reminds us that the real problem of the human race is sin

3rd night

1) Heaven thinks very highly of Jesus Christ

2) True worship is theologically informed worship

3) True worship is not about my feelings, its about God's presence as it was and as it is supposed to be

4) heavenly minded Christians are worshiping Christians

5) worshippers love to point Jesus out to others

6) God loves to hear us speak well of His Son

7) Jesus can save any sinner from the guilt and punishment of sin
