At Athens alone. 1 Thessalonians 3:1
Paul found himself alone in the great city of Athens yet saw an opportunity for the gospel, and took it. As a result some were saved. It is possible to be lonely even in a busy city. Loneliness can give us time to reflect, without interference, advice or persuasion. The Lord Himself spent His lonely times in prayer and was forsaken and alone at Calvary when He accomplished His greatest work. If you are alone today, then pray, evangelize, reflect; and give thanks for the opportunity of being alone. If you are never lonely, then you do need to make time to be alone with God. --Roy Hill
When storms of life around me are beating, when rough the path that I have trod,
Within my closet door retreating, I love to be alone with God.
